THE TILLEY GUARANTEE:
Unbleached Tilleys are replaced free if they ever wear out, shrink or fall apart. The only exceptions are the Raffia Hat R1 and Kids Toppers. They're so carefully handcrafted by us in Canada, and made of such strong materials, that many outlive their owners. As stated in the Owner's Manual?

INSURED AGAINST LOSS:

With your Hat, you'll be provided with The Straight Shooter's Statement of Loss of a Tilley Hat insurance policy. The insurance is for two years, all perils, 50% deductible, and is not issued by Lloyds.

FLOATS:
A layer of closed-cell foam in the crown, and sometimes in the brim, provides the Tilley's positive buoyancy. This is a boon to boaters and fishermen/women/people. Good grief!

TIES ON:
The Tilley comes with a tuckaway, adjustable, fore 'n' aft Wind Cord. When it's calm, the Wind Cord stays hidden in the crown. When there's a breeze, place the part with the sliding knots behind your head. When it's windy or you're sailing, use the chin part too.

REPELS RAIN:
Not perfectly but usually quite adequately. Happily, the brims of the cotton-duck Tilleys actually become stiffer when they get wet, not floppier, helping to protect your neck, face and glasses. The Tilley water proof hat is the best choice for those rainy days. Not only are all the seams sealed, but the exterior Nylon is laminated with a waterproof backing, making this Hat a superb rain stopper

TILLEY HATS WON'T SHRINK:
They, in 1980: Alex, you can't make a cotton hat that won't shrink!" Me: But what if we boiled the material first? Mercilessly preshrunk it? They: "Well, I guess that would work. It did and does.

TILLEY'S HYDROFIL ANTI-SWEAT BAND:
Soft and comfortable, it picks up sweat from your forehead and wicks it away to your temple area where it evaporates.

CERTIFIED SUN PROTECTION TILLEY ENDURABLES OFFER:
All Tilley Hats have been certified with an ultraviolet protection factor UPF of 50, the maximum rating given, both style and fabric. The Tilley LTM6 Hat is a good Sun Protection Hat because of the 3.5 inch brim.

You still need SPF 15 sunscreen and sunglasses with UV filters! Children especially need the UV filters in their sunglasses as non-filtering glasses will increase the size of their pupils, allowing even more of the damaging UV rays to enter. This often causes cataracts and retinal problems later in life and has happened in my Alex Tilley's own family.

TILLEY HATS OFFERS 13 SIZES:
Most hat makers make 4 or 5 sizes; we make 13, and even individual Hats beyond that size range when necessary.

As a matter of principle, no one shall be deprived of the pleasure and privileges of Tilley Hat ownership simply because of an uncommon head size.

The Tilley Hat fits more comfortably than other hats. It’s designed to be worn low on your head and slightly loose. It should be held on by gravity, not by painful pressure on your forehead! For the proper fit, you should be able to easily insert two fingers, flat, between the middle of your forehead and the front of the Hat. The Hat should be loose enough that you can rotate it to the left and right, and lift it up and down, without friction on your forehead. When it’s windy, use the cord!

Like footwear, your Tilley Hat must be sized properly. To find your hat size, use a tape measure and draw it right around your head, just above the eyebrows.
